For over two centuries, the nation remained hidden… until U.S. gunboats forced it open in 1854.

Now, in the present day, Sam Reilly and his wife Amira arrive in Nikkō for a quiet escape. It's their first time in Japan - and they've chosen to enjoy a peaceful babymoon in a land steeped in history.

But peace is short-lived.

Renjiro Tokuda, a direct descendant of the last shogun, has set in motion a centuries-old plan passed down in secret - one that seeks to restore Japan's isolation at any cost. Behind his cries of honor lies the opening move of a violent coup.

Cut off and hunted in a foreign land, Sam will stop at nothing to protect Amira and get them both out alive - even if it means unleashing an ancient defense he once swore to destroy.
